Learn to Play – March 3
- Sunday, March 3
- 2-3 p.m.
- Park behind Greystone Heights School (2721 Main Street)
- Demonstrations and draft games
Yukigassen is the sport of snowball fighting! A fast-paced, outdoor winter team sport, teams consist of 7 players, and the game has rules similar to dodgeball and capture the flag. The winning team gets the other team out first by hitting them with snowballs, or by capturing their opponent’s flag.
Games are 9 minutes long. Play Sask hosts coed rec sports for adults, so all games are mixed-gender, and players must be at least 19+. Games are self-officiated. All players must wear helmets with visors.
Frequently asked questions
We’ll cancel the event if the temperature dips below -27 with the windchill. At those temperatures, frostbite can occur in 10-30 minutes. For other winter weather, we’ll cancel if a weather warning is issued from Environment Canada.
If there’s no snow or it’s too cold to make snowballs, we will used deflated tennis balls wrapped with duct tape. They fall flat like snowballs and the duct tape keeps them from getting wet. It’s not as fun as snowballs but the game is still fun to play!
