Staying in line with provincial guidelines, Play Sask will be enforcing a proof of vaccination policy starting Oct. 2. You can read our full policy here.
For the Tuesday Dodgeball league at the YWCA, all players will need to stop at the front desk to provide both personal identification and proof of vaccination or a negative test from within 72 hours every week — this is the policy of the facility, and it’s not negotiable. This means all players at Tuesday Dodgeball games will be allowed to play without wearing a mask, though feel free to wear a mask if you prefer!
We ask that players come to the facility a bit earlier than usual and have their ID and proof ready. Please be patient if there’s a lineup or games start late. Our coordinator will be helping to check IDs and proof, so we also ask that captains help by setting up the benches and starting games on time even if the coordinator is out of the gym.
Policy for Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday leagues
Rec leagues are in a unique position within the current provincial health orders because we have been exempted from having a proof of vaccination policy, but under the mask mandate, adults playing sports don’t need to wear a mask if they can prove they’ve been vaccinated.
At Play Sask, we value being inclusive and welcoming to anyone who wants to play sports, so for our Wednesday Dodgeball (pending approval from the facility), Thursday Soccer, and Saturday Soccer leagues, people who don’t want to or can’t show proof of vaccination are still welcome to play as long as those individuals wear a mask at all times.
Of course, anyone who wants to wear a mask is more than welcome to do so, regardless of vaccination proof.
This means anyone who would like to play without a mask must either send a copy of their ID and vaccination proof to email@example.com before their next game, or show their ID and proof to the coordinator at their next game. Your status will be recorded in the roster so you don’t have to show proof every time. For more details, see our full policy.
Remember, the mask mandate is still in place! This means that even if you’re able to provide proof of vaccination, you’ll still need to wear a mask entering and exiting the facility, and on the sidelines (just like when the mask mandate was in place last year).
Please be patient with our coordinators as we work our way through this new system! It’s new for all of us and we are doing our best to implement the policy.
